Location & Surroundings

Burghead itself is situated on a promontory or peninsular, jutting out into the Moray Firth. The village is self contained, with three pubs within easy walking distance, all serving delicious local fish and chips (amongst other choices!), and other basic amenities including a small corner shop and newsagents. Recently opened, but already a firm favourite is a coffee and gift shop, The Bothy, which is well worth a visit.

Moray Firth Bottlenose Dolphins
The Moray Firth contains a resident population of Bottlenose dolphins in excess of 140 animals, the largest such population in the North Sea. There are also large numbers of both Common and Grey seals, harbour porpoises and some great marine bird watching opportunities. Take a boat trip to get up close! One of our recent guests saw them near the harbour area on no less than 6 different occasions in a single week, tho' I have never been that lucky

Whisky! Whisky! Whisky!
Speyside has the greatest concentration of distilleries anywhere in the world! Follow the Malt Whisky trail to discover some amazing single malts! Slainte!
